Temps de lecture : 5 minutes environ

There’s one part of household cleaning that often flies under the radar, and that’s bathtub cleaning.

Because bathtubs are often full of soap and water, it’s easy to assume they’ll stay relatively clean. But that’s actually not the case…

Oils from your skin, bath products, and soap scum can build up and cause your bathtub to look visibly dirty or house hidden germs.

Day in and day out, your bathtub cleans you, so now it’s time to clean your bathtub!

How to Clean a Jacuzzi Bathtub Effectively

Having a lovely, relaxing jacuzzi is a luxury. They’re the perfect way to bring the spa experience into your home and treat yourself to a bit of luxury.

But they also require a bit of extra maintenance when compared to a normal bath. So, here’s what you need to know about how to clean a jacuzzi bathtub.

Jacuzzi Bathtub Cleaning Checklist

  1. Fill the Tub: Fill your jacuzzi bath with warm water until the jets are submerged.
  2. Add your cleaning solution. It’s best to be on the safe side and select a product that’s specifically made for jacuzzi bathtubs. Or in a pinch, you could use white vinegar! Discover the art of utilizing white wine vinegar for optimal cleaning efficiency.
  3. Turn on the jets and let the cleaning solution circulate through the system for 15–20 minutes.
  4. Use a soft sponge or cloth to scrub the interior surface of the jacuzzi bath. Try to avoid harsh scourers or anything that might scratch your tub!
  5. Once the cleaning cycle is complete, turn off the jets. Remove the jet nozzles, if possible, to clean them individually. You can use a small brush or an old toothbrush to clean the jet nozzles and suction covers
  6. After cleaning, drain the tub completely, then rinse with clean water to wash away any cleaning product or debris.
  7. Dry your jacuzzi bath with a soft towel to prevent water spots and mineral build-up.

It’s important to make sure you’re cleaning your jacuzzi bathtub regularly, so aim to do a deep clean every month alongside your regular weekly cleaning.

Clearing and Cleaning Bathtub Drains

Many people dread clearing their bathtub drains, and for good reason!

Bathtub drains can quickly become clogged with hair and oils from your bath products. This stops them draining effectively and can cause bad odours to build.

To prevent that, here’s how to clean a bathtub drain…

How to Clean A Bathtub Drain

Start by removing any visible hair, soap scum, or debris from the surface of the drain. You can use your hands or a small brush to pull out as much gunk as possible – wearing rubber gloves, of course!

Many bathtub drains have a cover or stopper that can be unscrewed. Use a screwdriver (or your hands, depending on the type of cover) to remove the drain cover carefully and get it nice and clean.

To clean the inside of your drain, there are a few options. You could use a drain snake to physically pull out the clogged material, which you then discard in the bin.

Or, you could use a specialised drain cleaner which you pour down the drain then let sit to dissolve through the hair, oils, and dirt.

To test whether the drain is still clogged, just try running some water to see how well it drains. You may need to repeat the unclogging process a few times to really clear the pipes.

How Often Should You Clean Bathtub Drains

How often you clean your bathtub drain might depend on a few things.

If you have a busy household with lots of people, you’ll want to clean it more regularly. If any of you have long hair, you’ll want to pick up the frequency even more!

But in general, a good rule of thumb is to clean it once a week. And, of course, extra if it starts to clog in between weekly cleans.

Maintaining a Sanitary and Inviting Bathroom Space

A bathroom is where you go to cleanse yourself, relax with a bubble bath, or unwind with a hot shower.

It can be a relaxing sanctuary for many, so you want it to be a beautiful clean space.

Make sure you’re cleaning your bathroom regularly to stay on top of visible mess and dirt that builds up.

Even little details like smudges on the mirror or water marks on the shower glass can make a “tidy” bathroom feel grimy and messy.

Then, you’ll also want to deep clean your bathroom occasionally to make sure every detail is hygienic and sparkling clean.

This will help you keep your bathroom sanitary and pleasant for everyone to use!
